Microblading is a very popular solution for common eyebrow concerns. If you've struggled with uneven or sparse brows, or if you've experienced brows not growing back after over-plucking, you're not alone. Permanent makeup can help you achieve symmetrical, defined natural brow appearance that can save you so much time in the morning and worries about your brows disappearing half way through the day! Naturally, you might be considering permanent makeup, particularly Microblading, but might have concerns about what to expect. It's completely natural to have apprehensions, and I'm here to guide you through every step. In this blog post, I'll provide a clear understanding and address any fears or uncertainties you may have. Microblading can transform your brows into beautifully defined, symmetrical, and natural-looking features, and I'm here to ensure your journey is as comfortable as possible
1. Consultation: Defining Your Dream Brows
The first step in your microblading journey is the consultation. This can happen on your microblading appointment day, or if you are not decided, we can set up a separate appointment just for the consultation. During this initial meeting, we will discuss your desired brow shape, style, color, and preferences. This is the time to ask questions, share your inspirations, and understand the possibilities.
2. Preparation: Getting Ready for the Procedure
Before the actual microblading session, there are some essential preparations to be made. You'll need to avoid certain activities, such as drinking alcohol and taking specific medications such as blood thinners and pain medications such as Ibuprofen and Asprin in the days leading up to your appointment. If you have certain medical conditions such as Diabetes, I will need a doctor's note that allows you to receive the procedure. I will provide you with a more detailed instructions to ensure the best results.
3. Numbing: Ensuring a Painless Experience
Microblading involves small, precise strokes that mimic natural brow hairs. To make the process as comfortable as possible, a numbing cream is applied to the brow area. This ensures that you won't feel any pain during the procedure. I will apply the numbing cream immediately after you walk in, and leave it on for at least 30 minutes to allow the cream to numb your skin. If you are tough and don't need any numbing, this is the time to tell me!
In that case, we can start right away after filling out the intake forms!
4. Designing Your Brows: Mapping the Perfect Shape
After your skin is prepped with the numbing cream, I will first wipe your skin with alcohol to disinfect. This will minimize the possibility of infections. This step and proper aftercare is necessary to prevent infections. Then I will carefully measure and map out the ideal shape and symmetry for your brows. This step is crucial for achieving a natural and balanced look that complements your facial features. After having the shape drawn, we will look into the mirror together and adjust the shape if needed.
5. The actual Microblading Procedure:
Now, for the most crucial step! I'll use a clean, sterilized, disposable handheld tool with fine needles to create strokes that resemble real hair on the surface of your skin. Unlike regular tattoos that go deeper, we place the pigment in the top layer of your skin called the epidermis. This approach, with this specific tool, allows for thin, precise strokes that seamlessly blend with your natural brows for a natural appearance. It's a detailed process that may take some time to finish. One thing to note; once the skin is opened, I will use a secondary numbing that goes into your skin, which allows a complete pain relief.
6. Healing Process: Patience is Key
After the procedure, your brows will go through a healing phase. Initially, they might appear darker and bolder than expected, but don't worry; this will fade as the pigment settles. Following post-care instructions is crucial for proper healing.
During this phase, your brows may look patchy, too light, or too dark on different days. It's all part of the process. Your brows will be around 50% complete after the healing of initial visit, and a follow-up appointment is necessary to achieve the final result. To ensure that you will not have to go through an emotional roller coaster, here is a picture of typical healing process on the days following the appointment: Remember that everybody's healing speed / process is different (due to skin types) and the days and brow appearance in this photo are just examples.
7. Touch-Up Session: Perfecting the Look
About 6 weeks after your initial appointment, you'll return for a touch-up session. During this visit, I will assess the healed results and make any necessary adjustments to achieve your desired look. The touch-up ensures that your brows remain vibrant and long-lasting.
8. Maintenance: Caring for Your Microbladed Brows
Microblading results can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years, depending on various factors. To maintain your beautiful brows, it's important to follow a proper skincare routine and protect your brows from excessive sun exposure.
Conclusion:
Microblading is a meticulous and artistic process that requires both skill and attention to detail. From the initial consultation to the final touch-up, each step plays a crucial role in achieving your dream brows. When you follow all the steps necessary, you can enjoy long-lasting, beautiful results that enhance your natural beauty.
If you've been contemplating microblading, now you have a comprehensive understanding of what to expect from start to finish.
