How to map your own brows like a pro!

Updated: Jan 11

Have you ever wondered how professional microblading artists achieve perfect brow symmetry? Well, wonder no more! In this step-by-step guide, I'll walk you through the process in a simplified manner, making it easy for you to identify the five key points on each brow for drawing in symmetrical brows—even before opting for microblading.

If you find this content beneficial, don't forget to save this post and share it with your friends and family, so they too can discover the symmetry they've always desired.

This method is a crucial part of my routine with every client before starting microblading, ensuring we find the ideal symmetry. By applying this technique, you'll gain the skill to draw symmetrical brows on your own. So, even if you're in the research phase for microblading, you can still have those perfect brows while you find the right artist.

To begin, you will need a string and a brow pencil. For the mapping part, don't use an expensive brow pencil because you will erase the marks once you are done mapping the brows. I used a professional marker pencil for microblading, but you can use any cheap pencil or any powder form makeup to apply it to the string by pinching them together and running the string against the pencil / powder. (If using a powder, pinch the applicator with the powder on it against the string) Alternatively, you can just use the mapping string If you have a bamboo coffee stirring stick to measure the brows, you can use that too, but it might be a bit challenging to keep it perfectly horizontal across your forehead while you mark the appropriate parts accurately.

Let's dive into the steps:

1. Center Alignment:

- Align the string or stick in the center of your nose bridge to find the central point.

2. Brow Beginning:

- Mark the starting point of both brows equidistant from the center line.

3. Brow Height and Thickness:

- Use the string to mark the top and bottom of your brows, determining both the height and thickness.

4. Finding the Arches:

- Align the string to find the desired height of your arch. The higher the arch is, the bigger the distance will be from the top beginning mark of your brows. In the video, you can see my arch is high with dramatic upward angle. Then, you will go to the corner of your nose, and let the string align with the center of your iris.  The String will extend out to the arch area, and when it crosses the previous mark, that is your arch.

4. Tail Positioning:

- From the corner of your nose, let the string pass the outer corner of your eyes. Mark the area for the tail, ensuring it's not lower than the bottom beginning of your brows.

6. Bottom of the Arch:

- Mark the slightly thinner thickness at the arch, ensuring it complements the brow's overall shape.

7. Connect the Dots:

- Connect the marked points either using a stencil or by freehand drawing, aligning the dots for symmetry.

8. Perfectly Symmetrical Brows:

- Use wet q-tips & tissue to erase any lines and points. I love using the miscellar water to clean the marks. Fill in the brow following the shape that you have just created with a brow pencil. (I love the Taupe Anastasia brow pencil) leaving you with perfectly symmetrical brows.

While this may not be an everyday routine, it's a valuable skill to learn for when you want flawless brows without the effort. I hope you find this guide helpful, and if so, follow me for more tips and tricks! Check below to see what I used in the video!
